The La Roche University Drama Club debuted their first full length production, Falsettos, on November 9 and 10 in CC Square.

“I’m saddened that it’s over, but I’m happy that it happened,” the Director and Producer of the performance, Jena Curran, said. Curran took on the role of Whizzer.

“I was so pleased that this was my first theatrical experience at La Roche, and I could not have asked for a better first production for our drama department,” Krista Keene, whose powerful voice commanded the stage, said.

Kathryn Strang, who was assigned the role of Dr. Charlotte, said, “I just feel really grateful that I was able to be a part of the first full student musical and I’m really excited for what the drama club has in store for us in the next semesters and the next years. I hope we really have a flourishing program. I would absolutely do it again.”

Her counterpart and lesbian lover, Cordelia, was played by Emma Minnick.

After the performance Minnick shared, “I’m sad that it’s over but I think this is just the beginning and I think that hopefully more people will want to do it and be involved so we can do bigger and better shows. I’m excited for the next show.”

Jackson Decheck played the character Mendel and said, “At the end of the show you feel alot of things. You feel so exhausted because you’ve just run for two hours and you only get a two minute break, but you also feel relieved because it’s over. And a little bit sad because, once again, it’s over. Personally, I’m really glad I did this. I got to meet knew people. I’m not even a fan of musicals and I enjoyed this.”

Natalie Camilli also shared her feelings on the Falsettos performance. Camilli fulfilled the role of Jason.

She said, “The week before this week, when we were still practicing the performance, I was panicking and thinking ‘don’t go to the performance.’ I think I went through the stages of grief, so yesterday’s and today’s performance I could not have cared less. You could have booed me off stage and I would not have cared.”

The founder of the LRU Drama Club and Assistant Director of the musical, Jasper Dietrich, said, “I feel overjoyed that we got to do this, that I got to start this club, and how big it’s become. It’s a great success because I’m a senior and I’m tossing it [Drama Club] into their hands. It’s my baby and I have to let it go.” Dietrich played the role of Marvin.
